Started at 7 am drving to an elephant conservation center near Kalaw --(about 6 hours’ drive in total). A group of school friends originating from Kalaw decided to set-up a project that is focused on protecting the local environment, elephants and the traditions of local people living in this area close to Kalaw.

In this beautiful protected forest, nature grows undisturbed, creating a natural habitat for a range of biodiversity. Logged areas are being replanted with teak and other trees. The project includes a natural environment for retired working Myanmar elephants and helps the local population through education and micro finance. The elephants' mahouts and their families now live in a nearby village. Visitors learn about the elephants and have time to wash and feed some of them in the conservation Center.
